Medical University – Sofia has currently conducted a study among the students from Russia who participated into this year’s summer internship at the clinical facilities of the University hospitals for the period 30 June – 14 July 2019.
The survey included questions about the relevance of the academic program, the variety of clinical facilities, allowing students to observe the work of physician teams with real patients, teacher-to-student ratio during training, and the adequacy of the information provided. Some of the questions covered the general opinion of the students about the organizational and administrative support of university staff as well as assessment of the living conditions during their stay in Bulgaria.
It is a joyful fact that the students value the clinical program of the internship and consider that they have received a relevant to their major specialties training. They pointed out as a positive impact of the internship the possibility of creating new contacts and improving the level of their linguistic skills.
High assessment was also given to the administration of the University in terms of organized joint cultural events and entertainment, as well as support provided in relation to all public services and social utilities.
Students’ recommendations to future practices are related to their desire for more practical work and opportunities to attend lectures with their Bulgarian colleagues not only during summer internships but also during the academic year.
